Our capital has regained its pride, Vera Park – Kaladze

The Tbilisi City Hall`s Department of Environmental Protection has completed the comprehensive rehabilitation of Vera Park. Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze, accompanied by Vice Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze, visited newly renovated park.

"Our capital has regained its pride, Vera Park, a once neglected but now revitalized recreational haven in the city center. We all remember how challenging the situation was here, and today, everything is restored.

The rehabilitation of Vera Park stands as a prime example of participatory planning. The design works cost approximately GEL 700,000. As a designated cultural heritage site, the park`s historic character was carefully preserved, with the focus on renovating its infrastructure. New children’s and sports grounds, a dog-walking area, walking paths, a fountain, a gazebo, a lookout point, a drinking water fountain, and an administrative building were established. The entire irrigation system was replaced, drainage improved, and underground communications installed where previously above ground", - said Kakha Kaladze.

Situated in the heart of the city, the historical park is one of the oldest and most significant recreational areas, serving both district and city-wide communities since the early 20th century.

According to Tbilisi City Hall, the park’s renovation involved extensive research and a detailed design process, carried out with active citizen participation. Special care was taken to preserve the greenery. The existing mature trees were retained, 5,131 new seedlings were planted, and grass was sown over an 18,000 square metre area.

The total cost of the rehabilitation works amounted to GEL 23,484,010.
