Samegrelo police seized 47 units of the so-called miners in Mestia Municipality

Employees of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of searches conducted in Mestia Municipality, seized an additional 47 units of the so-called cryptocurrency miners as evidence.

The investigation established that through the aforementioned devices, locals were systematically generating digital currency and receiving illegal income through illegal and unlawful consumption of large amounts of electricity.

Law enforcement officers continues intensive investigative activities in order to identify other persons involved in the crime and take appropriate legal measures against them.

The investigation is underway under Article 229, Part II, Subparagraph "b" of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning the imprisonment for a term of up to 3 years.
