The design phase of a new multifunctional sports palace is underway in Kutaisi. Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia reviewed the project of the 5000-seat multifunctional sports complex.
The project, to be implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure, envisages the construction of main and auxiliary sports halls, a fitness area, a swimming pool, rooms for referees and international delegations, a conference hall, press working spaces and recreational areas.
The Kutaisi Sports Palace will be able to host national and international sports competitions, as well as conferences and various events.
The new sports palace will be built in Kutaisi near the former Parliament building, where the Municipal Development Fund also plans to develop a new multifunctional park. The park will cover approximately 70 hectares and will include children`s playgrounds, sports fields and exercise areas, a network of pedestrian and cycling paths, cultural and educational spaces, an open-air stage, pavilions and event areas. The park will also feature an information center, pergolas, chess tables, decorative lakes and fountains.
Together with Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, the Prime Minister of Georgia also reviewed the rehabilitation project of the Kutaisi Youth and Students Park, which includes the development of pedestrian and cycling paths, new green zones, overall area improvement, installation of small architectural structures and modernization of the lighting system.
The park will also include children`s and sports zones, picnic areas and an amphitheater.
The Prime Minister toured the ongoing infrastructure projects in Kutaisi together with members of the Government and Parliament of Georgia, the State Representative in the Imereti region and representatives of local authorities.
