Since 2022, Russia has supplied the EU with energy resources worth a total of USD 320.7 billion, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who is responsible for energy, said, writes bluewin.ch.
From January through September 2026, European countries purchased Russian energy resources for USD 21.3 billion.
Despite the sanctions, Russia continues to supply those sectors covered by exemptions, Novak said.
The EU has imposed numerous sanctions since the start of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
Nevertheless, several member states, including France, continue to import Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Slovakia and Hungary are also permitted to continue importing Russian pipeline oil under exemptions.
The figures do not include Russian energy resources that reach Europe via third countries such as India and Turkey. Like China, these countries have massively expanded their purchases of Russian crude oil since 2022. Referring to the diesel agreement, Nowak stated that Russia could once again increase its monthly shipments to the world market to 3 to 3.5 million metric tons. This would correspond to pre-crisis levels.
