The European Union needs Georgia more than Georgia needs the EU - Archil Gorduladze

Unelected bureaucrats who hold a meeting aimed at discussing issues such as the Middle Corridor... it is a meeting of Black Sea access countries, and not inviting Georgia reflects exactly the same attitude in this case as well. Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee of the Parliament, stated in response to a question from the host of “Dghis Tema” (“Topic of the Day”) on whether Georgia’s absence from the expansion forum damages the country’s European perspective, thereby focusing attention on the unfair treatment of Georgia.

“When we are told that Georgia is important to them, but the decision made by more than 1,120,000 voters is unacceptable to them, and when they directly insult - for instance, what Mrs. Rasa Juknevičienė says to more than 1,120,000 people, calling them “biomass” and “bacilli”, my apologies to the public, and once again, many thanks to our supporters for not following such provocative, fascist attitudes - and based on this person's report, when 20 MEPs attend the discussion, 500 vote for and support unread resolutions. One thing is the decision and approaches of the bureaucracy and the forces standing behind them, as well as the representatives of the bureaucracy of those countries whose sovereignty is practically in the minus, and another thing is the attitude of those countries where, for instance, within about a month, Mr. Shalva Papuashvili, along with other members of parliament, paid a visit”, - said Archil Gorduladze.

As he added, Georgia is not inferior to any country, and “in this specific case, the European Union needs Georgia even more now than Georgia needs the EU”.

“We are not asking anyone for anything; we are neither on our knees, nor empty-handed, nor in the process of demanding charity. On the contrary, we speak to everyone as equals. We are not inferior to any country, despite having a relatively small economy or a small population, and once again, for everyone to hear, including those foreigners, we can say that in this specific case, the European Union needs Georgia even more now than Georgia needs the EU, and if they have the capacity to make pragmatic decisions and if the forces standing behind them allow them to do so, it should first and foremost be in their interest to have stable relations with Georgia.

Otherwise, we see what political situation and, among other things, economic problems exist in a number of EU countries”, - said Archil Gorduladze.
