Tamar Chergoleishvili, a Director of TV company Tabula has asked a Foreign Minister of Georgia on financing pro-Russian media outlets.
The Minister of foreign affairs has stated that he knows nothing about this issue, but if there is any violation,. the government will act in the interests of the country.
"As for the information that the government is putting pressure on Rustavi 2 and Tabula, we have repeatedly discussed this issue. We know that for Georgia"s democratic development it is important to develop media, independent judiciary and protection of property rights. Our priority is to protect these three principles, "- said Mr. Janelidze said.
The US Ambassador to Georgia has also commented on the freedom of media . Jan Kelly has stated that it is important for every TV channel to maintain editorial independence.
