The US Senators have left Georgia. However, they summed up the visit at end of the day and made comments on all the subjects, which has been discussed in the official meetings.

The Chairman of the United States Senate Armed Services Committee, John McCain pointed out that one of the issues discussed at the meeting was the current media environment in Georgia.

"We talked about the freedom of the media and of our approach to this issue. This is very important, "- said McCain.

The US Senator Amy Klobuchar focused on the importance of the freedom of media. She said that the media was one of the issues discussed with the members of the cabinet .

"Freedom means the freedom of the press, when you have the media, when media is under pressure it is unable to find news , ask questions, you can not have true democracy. Politicians do not always like it when difficult questions are asked, but this is important. I know that there are issues in Georgia, I will not discuss now the details but we support free media in Georgia, the issue was raised at all of our meetings, "- said US Senator Amy Klobuchar.

The recent events around broadcasting company Rustavi 2 and the current court dispute was one of the main topics of discussion at the meetings of the US Senators with the President and the Prime Minister

As the end of the visit, said Senatot . Lindsey Graham said that they clearly passed the position of the Government of the United States on this issue.

"We"ve talked about Rustavi-2 with the President and the Prime Minister. We declared that we follow closely any effort to cut way for the independent media. We know about the lawsuit, we gave a clear position of the American government, that there is no time for backstepping when it comes to freedom of the media. I hope they have heard our message , time will show but we have passed the message clearly and loudly, "- said US Senator Lindsey Graham.
