Movement "New Unity for Georgia" addressed the political parties in connection with Rustavi2 and requests to set up a coordinating council. Special Statement was made by the movement today. According to them, the government declared war on free speech and "media castration"is underway.

"The government has chosen the wrong path and declared open war on freedom of speech. The methodical process aimed at subjugation of different television stations is carried out. We see its final phase in the form of castration of the public broadcaster. As to the independent company Rustavi 2, it remains tha last outpost of free speech against which the government has started to use all possible methods, "- said the founder of the movement, Mamuka Gamkrelidze.

Chairman of European Democrats, Paata Davitaia thinks that society should be ready to protect freedom of speech.
