The Prime Minister notes in the letter sent to the European Parliament, which is spread by InterPressNews agency, that blaming Georgian in putting pressure on private TV station is unfair and unfounded. Kvirikashvili noted that the letter sent to him by the European Parliament members a few days ago was for him a big surprise.
"With the support of our partners, including European political parties, Georgia has made significant progress in building a modern democratic state. You have repeatedly expressed the support to the European agenda of Georgia and assessed the efforts of our country in the fight against internal and external challenges. With this in mind, it was a great surprise to receive your letter dated March 7, 2017; Especially surprising were the expressed serious allegations.
"Since taking office we have spared no efforts to fulfill our people"s demands and to reach progress on the path of reforms, to turn Georgia into a European-style institutional democracy, which is based on the rule of law, respect for fundamental rights and freedom of speech.
"Despite respect of views and recommendation of our other partners and friends , accuse Georgia of putting pressure on the private TV station pressure in order to change its owners and the editorial policy in order to receive a particular political outcome is, in my opinion, unfair and groundless ", - said the Prime Minister.
