I look forward when the winner political power starts seeking for allies, not for enemies - President of Georgia

President of Georgia calls on Parliamentary majority and minority to start dialogue and institutional cooperation.

As Giorgi Margvelashvili noticed during his speech at the Parliament, he looks forward when the winner political power will start to seek for allies and not for enemies.

The President said that in five months after elections the constitutional majority has become a serious problem.

" In November last year, I addressed a new Parliament. I stated that holding a constitutional majority by a single party within the Parliament was a threat of concentration of power, but at the same time, it was an opportunity of bold reforms and initiatives.

What we have actually received after five months?

The alleged political threat has turned into a serious problem while the dynamics of reforms is not promising.

Unfortunately, the ruling political party has rejected the dialogue process and isolated itself. Considering this context, I would like to welcome the decision on holding debates today.

I have repeatedly emphasized after the victory in the elections, that I am in service of every single citizen and I am the President of all voters of my country. This applies to you as well - you are the Ministers and the members of Parliament of every single citizen, regardless of political affiliation. I look forward when the winner political power starts seeking for allies, not for enemies; as I believe that unification of the country and society must be the greatest ambition a politician may have. Therefore, I once again call on you to be engaged in a dialogue, and in the institutional cooperation,"- states the President.
