Provocative action and continuation of occupation - Tbilisi assesses so-called elections in occupied Tskhinvali

TBilisi assesses the he so-calledpresidential elections and a referendum held in occupied Tskhinvali as Russian provocative act and the continuation of the occupation.

According to the State Minister for Civil Equality, Kate Tsikhelashvili.not a single international organization recognizes the elections as legitimate. .

" Such so-called general Elections and referendum are unacceptable in general , and thus the results are unacceptable as well. The results will not be recognized by any international community. Today, this region, as well as the region of Abkhazia is , surrounded by barbed wire, and is under continuous occupation. The referendum is nothing more than another step for the annexation of the region, "- says Kate Tsikhelashvili.

The opposition considers the so-called Tskhinvali Presidential elections andreferendum illegitimate . The minority blames the government in passive policy.

 "This is a typical method of Soviet times when a referendum or elections are conducted without the participation of the expelled people, the indigenous population of this place. Naturally, it does not have legitimacy. The international community has already responded, but it should be noted that the anti-politics is very weak, "- said Sergo Ratiani, a member of .the parliamentary faction European Georgia.

National Movement calls on the government to take active steps against annexation.

"Besides vague statements, which are just a formality, we offer virtually nothing to that side, which conducts this illegality. There is plenty of opportunities , and it is first of all, international mechanisms, "- says a member of the UNM, Giorgi Kublashvili.
