Non- govermental organizations respond to the statement of the Chairman of the Parliament in connection with the Rustavi-2 Broadcasting Company case.
Irakli Kobakhidze accused representatives of civil society as well because they had sent an appeal to the Strasbourg Court .
NGO representatives said that the allegations that the European Court of Human Rights took decision under political influence are .unfounded
"Totally groundless to say that the European Court could be under influence of the country`s civil society. The decision passed by the Court was based on the one hand
on the importance and on the risks which the Court saw while considering the case of Rustavi-2, "- said the representative of the Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center,Sofia Verdzeuli.
Transparency International - Georgia says that similar statements of the high-ranking officials put under question the country`s image.
"Questioning the authority of Strasbourg Court is threatening our image. It is a pity that such statements come from the parliamentary speaker. Such statements prove that case has a political motive, "- said Giorgi Gvilava.
