Nicholas Berliner reiterates America`s position and states that the US does not recognize Abkhazia as an independent country.

Nicholas Berliner said that Abkhazia and South Ossetia were part of Georgia and this position would not change.

"The US position on Abkhazia and South Ossetia is very solid and clear. We do not recognize them as independent countries, because we think that they are parts of Georgia. This position will not change. We support Georgia`s sovereignty. I would like to say about the Russian Embassy in Abkhazia that this embassy will be very alone, because the international community does not recognize Abkhazia as an independent country and consequently there will be no other embassies there. Also, we do not recognize Abkhazia as an independent country. This action is an investment in an unsuccessful project. Abkhazia is part of Georgia and should be returned to it, " - Nicholas Berlinger said.
