President will have status of Commander in Chief formally

Without the commander`s rights. According to the new edition of the constitution the president preserves the status but is depreived of the right to make decisions independently. The existing Security Security Council will be abolished, and the commander will be able to convene it only under martial law. In case of any decision made by the President in the capacity of commander-in-chief, it needs to be presented by the government or prime minister.

Why the president of the state remains the Commander in Chief if he is not able to make any significant decisions independently is incomprehensible to the opposition. MPs blame the ruling team for adjusting the constitution to their own interests.

The ruling team does not deny that the president will maintain the status of the chief commander formally. The restrictions on taking decisions on the military issues the Georgian Dream representatives explain by the constitutional arrangement of the country.
