Parliament adopts Law on Tobacco

The Parliament has adopted the Law on Tobacco. 85 MPs voted for the decision.

The Law on Tobacco has been approved in the third hearing and the planned amendments will be launched step by step.

Tobacco smoking will be permitted in specific areas from 2018. Besides, it is prohibited to advertise tobacco products. According to the law, external visibility of tobacco products will be banned in the trade objects.

The initiator of the draft law was MP Guguli Maghradze who criticized the promotion of tobacco products in films.
