Liar and immoral - Judge David Mamisishvili responds to Mamuka Akhvlediani`s accusations

Judge Davit Mamisheishvili of Batumi City Court responds to statements made by former chairman of Tbilisi City Court Mamuka Akhvlediani.

The case is about the scandalous interview given by Mamuka Akhvlediani to the Post Scriptum in which Akhvlediani says that Zaza Artmelidze, the owner of the burnt hotel in Kobuleti, was his relative and judge Davit Mamisheishvili sentenced him to imprison without any proof of his guilt.

Judge David Mamiseishvili calls Mamuka Akhvlediani a "liar" and "immoral". Mamisishvili says that former head of Tbilisi City Court is using Zaza Artmelidze`s suicide and family misfortune in his own interests.

According to the judge, Mamuka Akhvlediani called him in the course of the case and asked him to arrange a non-custodial measure for Zaza Artmalidze.

"He called me and asked me not to arrest his relatives and because of the seriousness of the case, I made an objective decision," - said Mamisishvili.

The reason for the fire in Kobuleti hotel in 2015, which killed three children, was not investigated yet, but one more tragedy has been added. Zaza Artmelidze, owner of the hotel, who was in prison for 5 months because of the incident, committed suicide. Artmelidze also explained in the letter that he was not guilty and he was not allowed to save children.

The former chairperson of the Tbilisi City Court spoke about the case. Mamuka Akhvlediani says that Zaza Artmelidze was his relative and was detained without evidence in 2015 to put pressure on him.

After detaining the owner of the hotel, David Mamisheishvili, the Chairman of Batumi City Court directly explained to the family what they wanted.

"We were told straight away, stop Akhvlediani, it was his text, it was a direct message to family members that they had to influence me so that I would stop and in this case the family would not have problems," - said Mamuka Akhvlediani.
