Our advice is to consider the recommendations of the Venice Commission - Bridget Brink

 

US Deputy Secretary of State Bridget Brink recommends the Government of Georgia to consider the recommendations of the Venice Commission on constitutional amendments.

The statement was made by Bridget Brink during herinterview with Courier.

"I had the honor to hold a working group meeting with Georgian colleagues, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Justice of Georgia, other members of the government and what is really important with the parliamentary opposition several weeks ago. We had honest, open and positive discussion on the progress Georgia has achieved. I want to emphasize the success of the third wave of justice reform, which is necessary to be continued.

The independent court is important for Georgia"s democracy and economic investments. Pluralistic media environment, strong civil society, strong institutions are an important part of any democracy. Constitutional reform is the main issue that the parliament.is facing This is a decision that Georgia should take, but our advice is to consider the recommendations of the Venice Commission, "- said Bridget Brink.
