Policemen threatened a detainee with sexual abuse - the Public Defender started to study the scandalous fact.

According to the Ombudsman`s office, law enforcers verbally and physically abuses a detainee.

The Public Defender is waiting for the response of the Prosecutor`s Office. He has already provided information and details of the case to the investigative agency .

According to the Ombudsman, the law enforcers physically abused the detainee in the detention process and after being taken to the police station. According to him, due to the gravity of the injuries the isolator refused to accept it.

"The person has multiple injuries. This is alarming, so it is necessary to investigate the case. The investigation must determine why this man had such multiple injuries. Even the isolator refused to accept him because he had multiple injuries on his body and presumably these injuries were inflicted due to excessive use of force by police. It is also about threats, including sexual violence, "- said the Public Defender.

According to Ucha Nanuashvili, violence from the police is caused by the syndrome of impunity.

Ombudsman addresses the government with a recommendation to investigate similar cases within the scope of an independent investigative mechanism.

This is another fact of abuse of power and ill-treatment by police officers, which came to the attention of the Public Defender, though, as with other facts, so far without reaction.
