Opposition welcomes Venice Commission conclusions - majority speaks about certain changes

Representatives of the opposition welcomed recommendations given in the preliminary conclusion of the Venice Commission on the draft constitutional amendments. The issue of redistribution of mandates is highlighted by the minority.

"The Venice Commission, as it was expected, strictly criticized the issues that were disturbing the Georgian society, NGOs and political parties, ie, the situation is when on one side there is our society, political parties, NGOs, Venice Commission and on the second side - Ivanishvili`s team, "- said Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Minority, Giga Bokeria, Member of the Faction of European Georgia.

As to the presidential election, the opposition explains that there is an indirect indication regarding direct election of the country`s commander in chief.

"It is said that the President has a function to be a balancing factor in the country, which he is in the current situation. This means that the right to direct election is indirectly endorsed, "- said Nika Rurua, member of the United National Movement`s political council.

The first deputy chairperson of the parliamentary committee for human rights and civil integration, Gedevan Popkhadze, says that it will be necessary to consider certain recommendations of the Venice Commission but not on the issue of allocation of mandates
