Will Radio Liberty projects remain on GPB - this is one of the issues that the Board of Trustees are discussiong at the meeting with the channel`s leadership at this moment. The meeting has been ongoing for two hours already. Before the meeting, members of the Board of Trustees made statements with journalists.
Ketevan Mskhiladze, the member of the Council, says that the issue of broadcasting will be raised at the meeting. She does not exclude that the closure of the programs may have a political background.
"These were valuable programs and they should stay on air. But management has different opinions. I can neither confirm nor rule out that the closure of these programs has a political component, "- Ketevan Mskhiladze said.
Sulkhan Saladze, another member of the Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcasting (GPB), said that the management has changed positions several times this year.
"I do not expect that everything will be so well and as well as the management notes, we have seen the changed positions of the management in the current year," said Saladze.
Besides, the meeting will discuss the demand of the company "TNS", which asks the GPB to pay a fee for the exitpolls conducted during the parliamentary elections. However, Irakli Papava, member of the Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcaster, speaks about the significant margin of exit polls.
"They are asking for reimbursement, this time there is a dilemma that the exit polls conducted by them had almost 7% margin. What we had in the negotiations was not a big mistake. So these issues are discussed, "- said Irakli Papava.
As for the general processes in the Public Broadcaster, it is known that, along with 2 projects of Radio Liberty, after July 17, the first and the second channels will close a total of 42 programs, but the reform does not apply to the channel information service.
