"The reality is absolutely different" - the ruling team does not agree with European MPs` criticism

Governmental leaders and opposition leaders respond to the statements made by the European Parliament members in which they call on the Georgian government to continue dialogue on constitutional amendments.

The opposition hopes that, apart from the Venice Commission, the European lawmakers will also influence the government to change the draft constitution of Georgia.

Opponents of the ruling force call the constitutional project prepared by "Georgian Dream" "unworthy" and claim that it is unacceptable for both Georgia and the international community.

"The entire NGO sector is unanimously opposed and believes that this project is anti-democratic and will hinder democratic processes in Georgia. I am very confident that the international community will do its best to influence the Georgian authorities and protect Georgia`s future, "- said Zaza Bibilashvili, deputy chairperson of the UNM political council.

This criticism is unacceptable and is unclear for the ruling team. Members of the parliamentary majority say that the MEPs rely on statements of parties during the assessment.

"If they rely on the evaluation of the party groups it is another issue and I hope that it will be cleared up in this situation because the reality is absolutely different now. There are a number of articles that have been improved in the constitution, " - Nukri Kantaria said.

In response to the open letter sent by the NGOs, the European Parliament called on the Georgian authorities to show political will and continue dialogue.
