The Tbilisi City Court has started to discuss the case of a soldier accused of rape. The military serviceman himself, who participated in the 2008 Russian-Georgian war, states that this is a well-staged provocation against him. The accused was working in the logistics department, which was linked with another case - the Ammunition theft. Besides, one of the family members of the detainee is an active representative of one of the opposition parties.

Today"s court session was closed by the judge"s decision based on its sensitivity.

At the pre-trial hearings, both the prosecution and the defense have provided evidence. The judge considered admissibility only of one part of it. Among them is the video footage received by Khvicha Sharashenidze"s lawyer and attached to the case.

According to the lawyer, the prosecution wanted to remove a copy of the interrogation of Gabriel Kharshiladze, which is a direct witness in the case, which the judge refused.
