The vessel sailing under the flag of Malta polluted Georgian territorial waters with fuel near Poti Port, - the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture has told InterPressNews.

Reportedly, the fact of Georgian territorial waters pollution has been revealed as the result of the joint activities of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture and MIA Border Police Coast Guard.

The ship’s captain has been fined GEL 65,000 and in addition, GEL 1045 for the damage inflicted on the environment. The vessel was allowed to leave after paying the fines.
