Estonian opposition wins elections

The opposition has won the parliamentary elections in Estonia.

The results put Reform leader Kaja Kallas in the pole position to become the country’s first female prime minister. The center-right "Reforms Party" gained 29 per cent of the vote and will have 34 mandates in the 101-seat parliament.

The ruling team is on the second place. The centrist party with proportional reputation received 23 per cent of the vote.

Estonia’s president is due to nominate the candidate for prime minister in coming days, after which the nominee will begin negotiations to form a coalition as all parties fell well short of winning a majority.
