The issues related to the Presidential Elections in Georgia, the necessity of strengthening the judicial institutions and the transparency of the appointment of judges - these issues were discussed at the meeting of the EU-Georgia Association Council.
A joint statement issued last night on the European Council web site states that the Council agreed with the OSCE observation mission"s recommendation.
During the meeting, the judiciary reform was named among the areas where further progress was needed.The significance of ongoing reforms in Georgia has been highlighted in the investment environment in Georgia. At the meeting once again deep concern was expressed over the illegal actions carried out by Russia in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions of Georgia.
