Members of the NATO Military Committee attended the meeting of the North Atlantic Alliance Committee at Hotel "Biltmore".
The sessions are headed by head of the NATO Military Committee, Sir Stuart Peach and Defense Minister Levan Izoria.
The NATO military committee members got acquainted with the security situation in the region and discussed the situation in the Black Sea region.Georgia"s Defense Minister said that Georgia is a critical partner for NATO. According to Levan Izoria, the Alliance recognizes Georgia"s reforms.
The Chief Marshall of NATO Aviation and Chairman of the Military Committee, once again confirmed that NATO recognizes Georgia`s territorial integrity.He said that the North Atlantic Alliance calls on Russia to withdraw its military forces from Georgia"s territory.
"This is the third permanent session in Georgia. Last sessions were held in 2016 and 2017. Georgia-NATO exercises are one of the most visible examples of our military cooperation. The visit of the Military Committee emphasizes how significant Georgia is for the Alliance.
On behalf of the Military Committee, I would like to thank you for your warm hospitality. You are a valuable partner and you participate in important missions. Georgia is one of the largest non-NATO contributor to the missions.
Military personnel in Afghanistan know how we respect their efforts. This cooperation made us stronger”, Sir Stuart Peach said.
According to him, the Alliance deeply respects and recognizes the international borders of Georgia, which include both Abkhazia and “South Ossetia”.
“NATO calls on Russia to withdraw its military forces from the territories it recognized. NATO also welcomes Georgia"s efforts to peacefully solve conflicts in both regions. Over the last period, important steps have been taken in this direction," Sir Stuart Peach said in his speech.
