The fact that this tragedy is still not investigated is a big shame - Mamuka Bakhtadze speaks about Gamsakhurdia"s case

The country recalls the first president of independent Georgia. It is the 80th anniversary of Zviad Gamsakhurdia today.
The exhibition dedicated to Zviad Gamsakhurdia"s 80th anniversary was attended by the first officials of the Georgian government . The Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Parliament and the Mayor of Tbilisi spoke about the first president"s contribution.
According to the government officials, the case of Zviad Gamsakhurdia"s death must be investigated. According to the Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze, the fact that the case is still not investigated is a shame.
"His contribution to the history of Georgia is exceptional. Restoration of independence and statehood is associated with the name of Zviad Gamsakhurdia. My friends and I pay respect to his memory.

Obviously, it is shameful that the death of the first President of Georgia has not been investigated. The Georgian society needs answers to all questions. It is the matter of dignity for our state to provide answers to all questions regarding the case,"- said the Prime Minister.
Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the Parliament, said it was unfortunate that the investigation into the case was not possible for so many years. According to his statement, the authorities have said many times that the case is to be urgently investigated.
"He was the initiator of the referendum, which still has a very good legal basis for our independence and territorial integrity. He was the greatest state worker and our duty is to pay the tribute to his memory. It is unfortunate that the investigation of the case could not be completed by the end of the year. We have repeatedly made a statement about the fact that the case is to be urgently investigated. We have taken legal measures and made changes to the law, "said Irakli Kobakhidze.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze says that several governments have changed, but Gamsakhurdia"s case is still not investigated and therefore it should be brought to the end.
