Venice Commission conclusion - Opposition positively evaluates recommendations, and the majority calls it secondary

The Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia will discuss the recommendations of the Venice Commission regarding the procedure and criteria for selection of candidates for the judges of the Supreme Court together with representatives of the diplomatic corps, NGOs and all three branches of government.
The Venice Commission issued recommendations on the draft law on the selection of judges of the Supreme Court yesterday. The Council of Europe"s influential advisory body actually declares mistrust with its conclusions to the Government of Georgia.
The "National Movement" states that the Venice Commission in its conclusion reflected all the opinions to which opposition and NGOs were paying attention.
The "European Georgia" believes that the main part of the commission"s report is that at least half of the Supreme Court should be elected by the Parliament of the following convocation.
The majority say that the Venice Commission wrote a positive report on their project and what the opposition is saying is secondary recommendations.
"First of all we should think about sharing a legal part and not a secondary recommendation.
" I advise the opposition to look at the main recommendations first and to recognize that the Venice Commission wrote a positive report on the project, "said Anri Okhanashvili.
