European Georgia demands creation of a thematic inquiry group on the case of the Director of the Public School No. 6 in Zugdidi.
The MPs discussed the issue at the Education Committee meeting.The opposition summoned the chief prosecutor to the session but he did not come. The Committee agreed that they would return to the issue of the inquiry team after the meeting with Bachana Shengelia, son of Ia Kerzaia in the closed format.
Sergi Kapanadze, deputy chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia,said that the prosecutor"s office does not consider it necessary to visit the parliament in the course of investigation.
"We demanded that the prosecutor"s office be brought to the meeting and report to uson how the investigation is going on Ia Kerzaia"s case. Today we received a letter from Mariam Jashi that he does not consider the prosecutor"s arrival necessary because the investigation is underway ... We agreed today that we will call Mr. Bachana Shengelia at the nearest meeting and then we will make a decision to create an inquiry group and study the case our self.If the members of the majority decide not to study this case, it will be on their conscience, "Kapanadze said.
Members of the parliamentary majority respond to the demands of the opposition. Nukri Kantaria, member of the faction Georgian Dream, says that the investigation on the death of the school principal is underway.
