Liliane Maury Pasquier, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, together with members of the delegation visited the occupation line in the village of Odzisi.
Before that she visited Tserovani IDP settlement and listened to information about the situation of internally displaced persons. Liliane Maury Pasquier left Shida Kartli without any comment.
The head of Akhalgori municipality spoke about Pasquier`s visit, who said he hopes the de-occupy will take place with the international efforts in the nearest future.
"She was interested in the social situation of IDPs, living conditions, the integration issue with the rest of the populated areas, the population of the region. It is very important that the Council of Europe has such high interest in the problems of IDPs. Our hope is that our country will be de-occupied with international efforts in the shortest possible time and we will be back in our hometowns and villages, "said the governor of the occupied Akhalgori Nugzar Tinikashvili.
The visit of the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to Georgia is associated with the 20th anniversary of Georgia"s membership in the Council of Europe. Liliane Maury Pasquier has already met with the members of the delegation and the Chairman of the Parliament and the members of the majority. An official dinner is planned today. Tomorrow the ceremonial session will be opened in the Parliament.
