Eka Beselia, Former MP of the ruling party, starts collecting 200,000 signatures for constitutional amendments. Beselia demands i to changes in the main law of the countrythe article on the appointment of judges of the Supreme Courtfor life term and announce that the judges should be appointed for a certain period.
According to her, the amendment should also apply to the judges who have already been appointed by the Council of Justice.
Levan Gogichaishvili, a member of Beselia"s team and former member of the ruling party thinks that the plebiscite should be held together with the elections. According to him, citizens should decide whether or not to support the life appointment of judges.
The initiative is signed by ten MPs, including Nato Chkheidze and former deputy of Sakrebulo Vato Shakarashvili.
