The Minister of Internal Affairs issued a special order on the May 19 midterm and extraordinary elections. According to the document, the relevant structures acting in territorial units in the course of the pre-election campaign and on the Election Day should carry out the prevention and timely reaction to the offenses in their action area .
In addition, the order obliges all policemen to strictly adhere to the principle of political neutrality while performing official duties.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also signed a memorandum with the Central Election Commission. The document was signed by Giorgi Gakharia and Tamar Zhvania. Additional forms and the relevant legal framework for cooperation between the parties during the election period were determined by the memorandum.
