"It"s a bit strange for me to see the name of the Prosecutor General in this list," said Sopho Verdzeuli, Director of Human Rights and Democracy Program of Human Rights and Monitoring Center.
Sopho Vedzuri has commented on the list published today by the High Council of Justice where 144 candidates are registered for the Supreme Court"s judges.
It was unexpected for Sopho Verdzeuli to see the name of the Prosecutor General in the list.
In addition, Vedzeuli was not expecting to see Chinchaladze"s name in the list published today.
"It was anticipated that the influential leaders of the judiciary, including Mikheil Chinchaladze, would not be in this list but it was also supposed that members of this influential group would be on the list and we see that many well-known names in the list, including eight candidates from the first list of 10 people, "- said Veredzul.
The list of applicants for the judges of the Supreme Court is known. The list of 144 candidates is named after the Supreme Council of Justice today. Among them are acting and former judges - Tamar Alania, Nana Aptsiauri, Merab Gabinashvili, Shota Getsadze, Maka Gvelesiani, Miranda Eremadze, Acting Prosecutor Shalva Tadumadze, Giorgi Mikautadze, Lali Papiashvili, Chairman of the Constitutional Court Zaza Tavadze.
