The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia reports that Cyprus has recognized Georgia as a safe country. According to the agency, Cyprus became the 13th country in the EU / Schengen space, which made this decision in relation to Georgia.
According to the Ministry, Georgia has been included in the list of safe countries by Bulgaria, France, Liechtenstein, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Iceland, Luxembourg, Ireland, Estonia, Denmark and the Czech Republic 
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision made by Cyprus once again confirms that Georgia is regarded as a country where people are protected from any kind of possible persecution. As a result of the mentioned decision, the term of consideration of asylum applications will be significantly reduced.
