"We urge the authorities to take political responsibility for the serious processes and take the following steps: The Chairman of the Parliament has to leave the position and the Minister of Internal Affairs has to resign. The government should consider to overcome the political crisis with transition to the proportional electoral system for the next parliamentary elections, "said Sulkhan Saladze, chairman of the Georgian Young Lawyers" Association.
According to the representative of the Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center, the timely resignation of the Chairman of the Parliament could have led to another development of events on the rally.
The non-governmental sector considers the transition to the proportional system as one of the major changes in order to deescalate the situation and calls on the authorities to start a dialogue with political parties and public groups.
