"Police officers suddenly launched the shooting of tear-throwing shells" - Opposition speaks about the bloody night of 20 June

Members of the opposition responded to the video footage that Nika Melia"s lawyer Giorgi Kondakhishvili made public. The video footage shows how the angry protesters are relieved by the leader of the "United National Movement" on June 20 and how they agreed on negotiations.
Opposition parties say that the government wants to make opposition responsible for their fault. They said they could not imagine that this footage could be found in the prosecution"s evidence because it would put the opposition leaders case utterly different position.
"It is good that we found the footage. This is the most obvious evidence that nobody has ever intended to arrange a disorder. On the contrary, we were calmly waiting until we reached the Parliament. We had a mandate from the people, we were calm and quiet, " - said the head of the"United National Movement" Grigol Vashadze.
According to the opposition members, Bidzina Ivanishvili and the minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Gakharia are responsible for the bloody night.
"The order about the dispersal of the rally was illegitimate. mutilation of our citizens, shooting the rubber bullets to the journalists, the injured eyes of our young people. All those actions were taken by the government and the responsibility is under Bidzina Ivanishvili and the Internal Affairs of Georgia. The society will understand everything about who stood behind the processes, why the order was given. The situation was already calm. Politicians were planning to negotiate and this time started shooting," - said Otar Kakhidze, member of "European Georgia."
Opposition members say that on June 20, the dispersal of the rally was illegitimate. Opponents of the government authorities say that on the eve of June 20, suddenly the tear-throwing shells launched from the back of the police.
Not Nika Melia and other representatives of the opposition organized the violence, they were trying to make the people calm.
"People were waiting for the results of the negotiations, in such a totally calm situation, suddenly the individuals started to shoot the tear-throwing shells with the direction of the rally, and then started the illegal use of less-lethal weapons," - said Shalva Shavgulidze, a member of "Free Democrats."
