Irakli Okruashvili is the personal prisoner of Bidzina Ivanishvili - the opposition assesses the detention of the former defense minister.
Leaders of political parties have come together in the city court to support Irakli Okruashvili and appealed against the ruling of the judge according to which the leader of the Winner Georgia will have to wait for the final decision of the court in Matrosov prison. Opposition leaders agree that Okruashvili is a victim of Ivanishvili and he is in prison because of the fear of the Georgian Dream leader.
Opposition parties say that the case materials submitted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the court of Okruashvili could not meet the minimum standards for imprisonment and the judge fulfilled the political order. They refer to Irakli Okruashvili as a political prisoner. Opposition leaders are convinced that Ivanishvili will continue political repressions and Okruashvili will not be his last victim.
Okruashvili is in jail not because of the June 20 anti-occupation rally, the NGO sector is convinced. After the opposition leader"s imprisonment, the most influential Georgian organizations directly said that the imprisonment raises many questions and the doubts are strengthened by Okruashvili"s detention time. He was imprisoned when he started to fight for Rustavi 2 and said that the television did not belong to Kibar Khalvashi.
Irakli Okruashvili"s teammates ask the international and local NGOs to monitor the defense ex-minister"s case. The Public Defender will study the situation of opposition leader Irakli Okruashvili and other demonstrators in preliminary detention isolators.
