Vicious Government Practice and Selective Policies for Media - The Charter of Journalistic Ethics has left the statement for the Prime Minister at the Government Chancellery. Almost all acting media outlets are joining the demand about the necessity of the preservation of editorial policy of "Rustavi 2."
Nata Dzvelishvili said that such practices by the government are hindering journalists" job performance.
“Government perceives media as a supplement. They invite journalists to the briefings in different formats. For example, in a format such as live broadcast, whether or not journalists were sent and they are required to cover this. This practice must change and journalists should decide when, in what form and with what accents they will perform,” - Nata Dzvelishvili said.
Representatives of the Charter believe that such practice helps authorities to avoid critical questions.
The statement is signed by 34 media outlets and journalists. They do not include the public broadcaster and two private media outlets, Imedi TV and Maestro TV.
