Reviewing Gvaramia"s case without the political process we are watching, is either naive or trying to turn a blind eye to authoritarian tendencies - Margvelashvili

"Considering Gvaramia"s case our of the political process we have been watching for the past month is too much naiveté or a deliberate attempt to turn a blind eye to authoritarian tendencies in the country," - Giorgi Margvelashvili, a former Georgian president, told the Courier.
He responded to the filing of the charges against former director-general of Rustavi 2 Nika Gvaramia. Giorgi Margvelashvili recalled developments in the country during the last month, including the detention of politicians, the crackdown on the June 20 rally, the events surrounding TV Pirveli.

“It is very difficult to separate Nika Gvaramia"s case and not see the whole complex, a whole new trend, a new wave of action of the "Georgian Dream” political party. Gvaramia," Rustavi 2, “TV Pirveli”, Khazaradze, Melia are also the parts of this wave. The most grave part of this wave is June 20-21, violent dispersal of the rally, and subsequent events – Okruashvili, Anaklia. It’s very difficult to separate these events from each other and not to see a unified process, a unified purposeful policy in this regard ", the ex-president said.
