There has never been such transparency in the history of the selection of judges in Georgia and this is good. Such statement EU Ambassador Carl Hartzel made when commenting on the selection of Supreme Court judges. He added that in a few weeks the Parliament will make a very important decision and European Union is observing this process with special interest.
“The process of selecting Supreme Court judges is a very important process for us. We have been actively involved in this process for the last 11 months. As we know, there were questions about the selection procedures, and there were also questions about the nomination of candidates by the High Council of Justice. However, the good news is that there has never been such transparency and openness in the process of selecting judges in Georgian history. That means that everyone will judge by itself, including those parliamentarians who have to make final decisions. They must be selected to the highest professional and personal standards”, - said Carl Hartzel.
