Today, October, 14, the Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates Mtskhetoba - Svetitskhovloba.
On the occasion of this day, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II from 10 o’clock will conduct a divine liturgy at Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in the town of Mtskheta.
Various events will be held on Mtskheta main square today.
Because of the holiday, car movement in Mtskheta is limited.
Svetiskhoveli is believed to be built on the site chosen by Saint Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia, where she built a church in the IV century. Today"s Svetiskhoveli was built in the early XI century.
