Construction of new HPP is starting in Pankisi Gorge. Construction of the 27-megawatt HPP "Samkuritskali 2" will start in November and the works will be carried out by the company “Feri”.

As Lasha Iordanishvili, Director General of the “Feri” company, said, the 27-megawatt HPP will be built 15 kilometers away from the village: “We have already obtained the permission to build "Samkuritskali 2” and we will start the process in November".

According to Tamta Mikeladze, director of the Equality Policy Program at the Center for Human Rights Education and Monitoring, the “construction of four HPPs for this small valley will have a significant impact on the natural environment as a whole, including the potential to reduce water resources, to change the eco system".
