The bipartisan act, jointly endorsed by congressmen, is yet another confirmation to official Tbilisi of the importance of cooperation with Georgia for US. According to the Georgian Foreign Minister, this act confirms Georgia"s leading position on America"s political agenda.
As David Zalkaliani says, we have not had such a high-level legislative initiative in the history of strategic partnership with the U.S. and Georgia’s independence. He added that this is a proof that the strategic relations between Georgia and the United States are moving to a new stage.
“Georgia has unprecedented high-level cooperation with the United States. Passing of Georgia Support Act by the US House of Representatives confirms that we have the bipartisan support of the US legislative branch. Approval of the Act indicates that the issue of Georgia is on top of the US political agenda. We have not had such a high-level legislative initiative in the history of the strategic partnership with the U.S. and Georgia’s independence. It is important that the bipartisan bill provides for sanctions against human rights abusers in the occupied territories. In this way they respond to the resolution of the Parliament of Georgia on the list of Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria”, - said Zalkaliani.
