The Prime Minister started todays Government session by commenting on the developments in the Patriarchate of Georgia. According to Giorgi Gakharia, what we saw yesterday is a deliberate attack on the state and the church.
“What we saw yesterday is a deliberate attack on the state and the church. Of course, some groups, which do not want peaceful development of the country, are trying to harm our country with various provocations. We have seen such an attempt some time ago, when they were planning a revolutionary scenario against the state and the government. Today, they seem to have decided to bring uncertainty to the church through destructive actions. Of course, this is unacceptable. Of course, we all understand that the Patriarch of Georgia is a symbol of the Church and a symbol of the statehood, and we will not allow anyone to endanger our tomorrow and our children’s tomorrow with such destructive actions in the state and church”, - said the PM.
