The Georgian National Communications Commission is taking action to introduce 5G internet in Georgia by 2020, announces the commission.

We will soon introduce 5G technology as the country’s economic development path goes through a new generation of internet technologies. 5G internet is a necessary precondition for the development of such important areas in the country as the economy, healthcare, education, business and more.

5G is the latest wireless mobile phone technology, first deployed in 2019 in several countries. 5G is expected to dramatically increase internet speeds, and allow for a wide range of new applications, including in the e-health sector (telemedicine, remote surveillance, telesurgery).

We already carried out large-scale work to install 5G infrastructure and soon will announce a tender for telecommunications companies. 5G internet is absolutely safe and recent rumours in social media that it is bad for health is disinformation”, - reads the statement of GNCC.
