Police officer arrested for rape sentenced to imprisonment

The court sentenced imprisonment as a measure of restraint to Zaza Alaverdashvili. A police officer detained on charges of rape.

The investigation is underway under the first part of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates rape. The offense carries a maximum sentence of 6 to 8 years in prison.

According to Bondo Batiashvili, the lawyer of Alaverdashvili, former policeman does not plead guilty.
