Economic team of the Government meets executives of shopping malls and large chains

Introduction of potential precision-targeted restrictions and additional measures in support of businesses were discussed today by and between the Economic Team of the Government of Georgia led by Maya Tskitishvili, Deputy Prime Minister and executives of shopping malls and large chains under the instruction of the Prime Minister of Georgia by taking into account the existing epidemic situation and with an aim of greater reduction of its damaging impact caused by COVID-19 on businesses and economy in the country.


It was noted at the meeting held at the Government Administration today that to further curb the community transfer rate in the country it is important to lower the mobility. With this aim in mind and in line with recommendations issued by epidemiologists, the Government of Georgia intends to extend the scope of precision-targeted restrictions, which is planned as a result of a close communication with businesses.


It was particularly noted that the key goal of the Government of Georgia is to maintain the existing jobs and to ensure a greater reduction of impact caused by the global crisis to the economy of the country.


Also, focus was made on the additional measures in support of businesses, which will be announced shortly, along with the responsibility of businesses on adherence to the existing regulations, to further curb the community transfer rate in the country.


As stated by Maya Tskitishvili, Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, reduction and prevention of the community transfer rate is a common task of the government, businesses and citizens of the country. Hence, it is important that everyone assumes their share of responsibility in the fight against the pandemic.


Executives of shopping malls and large chains noted at the meeting today that they share the government approach towards precision-targeted restrictions and expressed readiness to facilitate the adherence to safety rules at their premises to the maximum extent so that everything is done to keep their staff and consumers away from the risk of viral infection.
