In the past 24 hours, 1,618 new infection cases have been confirmed, Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council, stated during today"s briefing at the Administration of the Government.

"19,438 tests have been conducted throughout the country under the intensive testing program in the past 24 hours, including 10,774 antigen tests and 8,664 PCR tests.

Consequently, we have 1,618 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. Since the first outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, we have had a total of 243,255 confirmed cases.

We have 403 recoveries in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries to 227,611.

Unfortunately, 26 people have died in the past 24 hours. Since the outset of the pandemic, we have had a total of 2,846 fatalities.

Of the 1,618 cases identified today, 750 were confirmed in Tbilisi, 94 in Adjara, 234 in Imereti, 94 in Kvemo Kartli, 103 in Shida Kartli, 35 in Guria, 126 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 102 in Kakheti, 44 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 29 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, and 7 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

Presently, we have 12,772 active infection cases. 3,873 persons are treated in hospitals, including 1,788 in Tbilisi, 350 in Adjara, and 768 in Imereti. We have 816 severe cases, including 370 in Tbilisi, 68 in Adjara, and 189 in Imereti, of whom 242 are on a ventilator, including 162 in Tbilisi, 7 in Adjara, and 26 in Imereti.

579 persons are in clinical hotels, including 218 in Tbilisi, 295 in Adjara, and 27 in Imereti. 8,320 persons are recovering at home.

We have 496 persons in quarantine zones, including 243 in Tbilisi, 55 in Adjara, and 7 in Imereti.

From October 6 through January 12, a total of 21,620 persons have been transported from the state border into quarantine zones.

Presently, 22,797 persons are self-isolating, including 12,989 in Tbilisi, 2,166 in Adjara, and 2,349 in Imereti”, - said Berdia Sichinava.
