The Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Imereti Governor Zviad Shalamberidze, and Majoritarian MP Bezhan Tsakadze held a meeting with the students and teachers of the newly built public school in the village of Zeda Sakara, Zestaponi Municipality.
Giorgi Gakharia spoke about the importance of a safe learning environment and compliance with epidemiological norms, and wished success to the students in their new learning environment.
According to the Head of the Government, compliance with the highest standards of epidemiological safety and care for the health of teachers and students are the key goals of the state"s decision to test, every other week, at least 20% of the faculties and administrative personnel of all schools providing in-person studies. The Prime Minister also emphasized that the Ministry of Education offers parents to keep their children studying remotely, if they wish so, while teachers will receive additional pay for delivering remote classes.
The Prime Minister visited the newly built schools for 300 children. The modern three-story building is adapted for students with special educational needs. The school has a reliable fire safety system, science labs, and a combined gym, and a sports field outdoors.
The school’s construction, carried out by the Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency, utilized modern technologies and EU-standard eco-friendly building materials. The project’s value exceeds GEL 4.5 mln. With 31 employees, the school presently has 139 students.
