Using pepper spray indoors equals inhuman treatment, said today the Public Defender of Georgia.

“According to the standards of all international organizations, using the so-called pepper spray, gas indoors, where people are not allowed to leave the area and get help, equates to inhuman treatment and even torture.

The pain caused by the gas in the closed space reaches the forms of inhuman treatment and torture. SPT has directly recommended to Georgia in 2014 that the so-called pepper spray should not be used indoors.

The so-called pepper spray can not be used indoors. It is especially forbidden to use this gas against those who do not pose a threat to the police”, - said Nino Lomjaria.
